Anchor your relationships through two-way communication

Welcome back to šŸŽ™The 4am ReportšŸŽ™ and part 2 of our series on Anchor Content (Note: If you’re clueless about Anchor Theory, here’s a recap).

This episode features some highlights from a past episode where we talk about the death of the broadcast-only model; you need two-way communication to build relationships. We share how the Anchor Theory of Content Marketing can help you foster this all-important two-way communication and contribute to your sales pipeline!

Here’s some key takeaways from this micro episode:

  1. Expand your network

We (at C+P Digital) rarely go in cold. We don’t strike up conversations and then hit up potential clients with a hard sell.Ā

The spray and pray method is outdated. Rather widen your network and stay in touch with the people you would want to work with in future. And use email to reach out to people. We pull out specific points from past episodes and use that to create an introduction. We rarely need to rewrite something if we reach out to someone, because we already know them.

  1. Navigate the (fine) line between sh*t tonnes of content, spammy content and content people want

We can all get caught up in our own rhetoric. Too much (spammy) content isn’t going to help you connect with anyone, let alone potential clients.Ā  Rather engage in a way that adds value. If we see a LinkedIn conversation that we can contribute to, we join it. But we don’t write unique and thoughtful insights on the fly (that’s exhausting!). We grab some content we’ve already written that is smart, concise and succinct (put that Anchor Theory to work) – and use this to strike up conversation or to add to a conversation. And it seems really natural and organic 😊

  1. Know thy customerĀ

You need to know and understand the person you’re trying to engage with in order to strike up a conversation. After nurturing it a while, you can direct them to something you produced that would be appropriate for them to see, or that helps with some of the challenges and pain points they’re facing. This is the long game, and playing it will help nurture relationships and foster two-way communication in the long run.
