Cross-populate content from one format to another

So you want to be publishing way more on your website, and you want to use your podcast to accomplish that.

We’ve already covered how to uplevel podcast material to powerful writing, and we’re not just talking show notes.

We also tackled how to use different formats for publishing goals. Because a blog is not just written – a blog can mean any format, really.

So, finally, I want to talk about cross populating. Pretty much every brand, whether it’s a small business or larger business, has got a sh!t ton of material going out in different formats.

Think about what you’re sending out on email.
Think about what you’re sending out on social.

A lot of people write long form content on social and put it out on places like LinkedIn or on Instagram, but then totally overlook using their website to leverage it.

I’m not saying that every single word that you say out there on the interwebs needs to instantly be put on your website, but be sure that important information is not being left out as you assess your publishing needs.

Often, what we do is we take audio content and move it over to video and email and vice versa.

So really look into:

a) Social – if something is doing swimmingly on your social channels, and especially if you see a pattern more than once, that piece of content should definitely be going on your website. You may have to add more detail and build it out, but get 👏 it 👏 up 👏 there.
b) Email – if what you’re sending out via email is not also appearing as blog posts, well why the heck not?! Obviously, don’t release the content on your site immediately after you hit send. You want your newsletter list to feel like they’re part of an exclusive club, getting that sweet scoop ahead of the rest. A few days, or even a few weeks later – whatever suits your biz – is totally ok.
