🎵I got you babe, I got you babe🎵(cue Sonny and Cher singing to each other and we all know these words weren’t exactly true in their partnership).
So, let’s all change it to (and please do sing along):
🎵“I got me babe. I got me babe.”🎵
Our guest today likes to get up at 4am sometimes.
She’s an executive coach, facilitator, speaker and writer.
With a background in corporate, management consultancy and startup experimentation.
As well as a Big Change Consultant.
Her name is Debbie Dimoff and what’s keeping her up is the same thing that keeps everybody up. That inner chatter, that carousel of thoughts that goes through your mind. Except she gives us some tips on how to deal with it. About changing your focus and bringing yourself back to your physical body, or maybe just seeing it as the dawn of a new day, a gift.
Debbie believes that “if you can find and use different ways to achieve success in any situation, your life is going to be glorious.”
And we tend to agree with her.
Much like you flex your triceps and biceps, you can do the same thing with your mind to build up the mental muscles that help you be resourceful. And change your song to “I got me.”
Quoting Twyla Tharp, the famous ballet dancer, choreographer and writer who never stops creating, she says :”The leader with all the resources in the world is not the successful leader. It’s the one who is resourceful. “
Which brings us to Debbie’s magic mental trifecta of resourcefulness:
1. Know your values (hint: do the Barrett Values Assessment with your partner or colleagues)
2. Build your core mental muscles, your tools in the kitbag of stuff you use to solve issues
3. Find relationships that support you (đźśś forges đźśś)
If you listen to this mind-changing episode, you’ll learn how to identify your Ice Queen Bitch (or whatever you want to call your inner saboteur) and her accomplices, so that you can silence them🔕. Or just divert that chatter, chatter, chatter.
Now imagine Thing from the Addams Family (and we challenge you not to hum the theme song).
Thing links to a really practical exercise Debbie shares that will take you away from the inner judge that just keeps yakking away at you.
Along with how you can build up your wisdom and your stage power by being the curious anthropologist – the one asking a bunch of questions ❓❓❓.
+ finding the gift
+ identifying your superpower (and you’ll discover what Debbie’s, Susan’s, and Will’s💥is).
+ getting the relationships you need
+ pop-up star counsels and how they can help you launch your new product or campaign
+ giving back as a volunteer or mentor
Aaah so much to share. You need to listen to this podcast. Coz you’re worth it (🎵I got me babe🎵).
A few parting words from Debbie:
“Remember that 4am is just the opening act of dawn. Listen to white noise, hum or focus on your breath. Your objective is to get drowsy, not to fall asleep, because that’s way too much pressure, right? And if you can’t fall asleep, hey, you had a rest. So, what’s the gift?”
