Are you thinking about podcasting? Or do you already have a podcast and want to take it to the next level? Either way, this episode gives you some tactical advice on how to podcast well – The Holy Trinity of Hooking (and if your mind went there, that’s because you’re our people!). But seriously, we’re talking about how to get your audience hooked on what you’re dishing out, your podcast.
Here’s how:
- Up the visual
Visuals are highly underrated. As Will says: “think outside that audio box!” This is your opportunity to express your brand’s visual identity, tone and voice – and give your audience an idea of what they can expect. You need at least one new image every week you release your podcast.
Using our visuals as an example, they fit our brand. They’re unique and memorable. People talk about them.
For more on our visual identity and to hear about our success from this alone, listen to the episode.
- Rethink your intro
Let’s face it. Long self indulgent, canned intros are over. You need a short, focused, intro to keep people with you. Think 15 seconds, so that if someone does skip, they’ll be right at the beginning of the podcast. Listen to learn what others are doing to create focused intros, plus get some ideas on how you can reinvent yours.
- Ditch the fluff
The first five minutes of your podcast are crucial, because if you’re not compelling, people will bounce. So why are you talking about what you had for breakfast this morning or how your day is rolling? Keep it fluff-free.
This is your opportunity to let people know what the show is about, who it’s for and why they should listen. Get ready to give your audience a preview of what they’re about to hear.
